What
file formats do you accept?
We prefer EPS and TIFF files for images. We can also accept
JPEGs and PDFs. Application files are also accepted- see our
list of acceptable formats.
What
types of media can I use to send you my files?
You can send us your files on a CD-Rom, floppy disk, Zip disc,
or DVD if you are not sending the files electronically.
Should
I compress my files before sending them?
You do not need to compress files that you upload or e-mail
to us as long as they do not exceed 5 MB. For larger files
using File Transfer Protocol (FTP), we do recommend using
compression software prior to sending the files to speed up
the transfer process and protect the integrity of your files.
Do
I need to use any special kind of naming system for the files
I send you?
No, we will use whatever file names you designate for the
job. However, we do recommend that you use a similar name
for all files associated with one job, such as a layout file,
image files and font files. Try to limit characters to 8-Dot-3
if possible. Avoid any type of punctuation other than the
"Dot" seperating the file name and its suffix.
Can
I use images that I've taken using a digital camera?
Yes, just make sure you use the highest setting available
for your images.
Can
I use images I've downloaded from the Internet?
When you download images from the Internet, some of the image
and resolution is left out of the picture to speed up the
transfer. As a result, these images tend to look ragged and
out-of-focus when used in print. Therefore, we do not recommend
images derived from the Internet for print pieces.
What
resolution should I use for graphics and text files?
We strongly recommend producing all your raster image files
at 200 dpi at 100% of reproduction size..
Do
I need to supply you with font files?
Yes. To be sure we have an exact match to the type you want,
we ask you to supply us with the fonts. Be sure to send us
both the screen and printer fonts. You may include fonts (embed)
in your EPS or PDF or convert fonts to art (or paths, outline,
etc.) to eliminate need to send actual fonts.
Please
call 800-432-0266 once you have your files uploaded. For assistance
in using FTP, ask our art department at Ext. 131.
